Michael Olise to Manchester United is seen as a fail-proof signing for the future by the new hierarchy.
Michael Olise to Manchester United
Michael Olise scored twice as Manchester United were put to the sword in a 4-0 rout at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
SportsLens have previously revealed United have had intentions around trying to sign Olise for months and his performance simply underlined everything the scouting reports have already detailed.
Early advances have already been made so that United understand the terms and conditions of his Palace release clause, but part of the plan for the future is to identify players that carry safeguarding in terms of their long-term value.
They believe Olise has all the attributes to be a mainstay success in the league and believe his credentials in the division already prove so.
Transfer misses have been a problem they are battling to overcome as Andre Onana, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Antony and others struggle to live up to the hype of their moves to Old Trafford. There is a clear intent from Ineos to make better decisions over the type of player they bring in and ensuring there is the highest chance possible of good compatibility into the team.
Erik Ten Hag is under pressure to keep his job but it does not matter if he is in charge or not. United are buying players that are not specific to the style or fit of any particular manager.
Olise, 22, has a clause in his Palace contract believed to be in the region of £60million and United will look to trigger it in the next transfer window.
The problem is they also need to offload players at the same time. In the front line, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho will stay but Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Antony and Amad Diallo could all leave, while Anthony Martial will see his contract expire.
Exits should free up room for Olise to be signed but United will be wary that his form could yet lead to other clubs showing interest.
Paris Saint-Germain, Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea have all been linked with Olise previously.
United have an eye on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, too.
He came on as a substitute in the 4-0 win as he returns from knee surgery but there is a strong possibility he leaves and that United also look into a possible deal for him as they seek to mend their broken defence.
