POLISUD (system – Emma Smith-Chaston riding for Micky Hammond)
Emma Smith-Chaston has a solid record when riding for her boss Micky Hammond, scoring on 50 of her 334 mounts (15% strike-rate) for a profit of £23.10 to a £1 level stake at SP. In handicaps confined to conditional jockeys she’s 12 from 57 for a profit of £41.63. POLISUD, successful over course and distance under Smith-Chaston last time out, looks the answer to this conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle.

CLOUD KING (system – Robert Cowell, first run since gelded, 5f handicaps)
Robert Cowell has a well-deserved reputation for getting the best out of sprinters and he has a good record in 5f handicaps with runners on their first start since a gelding operation. Since the beginning of 2012, he’s won with eight of the 35 qualifiers for a profit of £55.63. Clarendon House, the most recent qualifier, won at odds of 17-2 at Wolverhampton in November and perhaps CLOUD KING can follow suit. The three-year-old was a big eyecatcher at Yarmouth on his final start last year, making the running into the headwind over 6f under Jamie Spencer before weakening inside the final furlong.
