AYR 3.30
HIGH MOON (system – Midnight Legend, first-time cheekpieces)
Progeny of Midnight Legend have a 25 from 160 record in first-time cheekpieces and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £36.33 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 17.06, A/E = 1.47). HIGH MOON could only finish a very modest third over course and distance last time, but his yard is in good form and he’s worth chancing in the hope that the headgear perks him up.

HIGH ROLLER (system – Nick Alexander handicappers, second run after a wind operation)
Nick Alexander does well with his handicap runners having their second start after a wind operation, scoring with nine of the 34 qualifiers for a profit of £18.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. His last 12 qualifiers in today’s Class 5 grade have produced six winners and HIGH ROLLER is worth chancing despite pulling up here in December on his first start after the wind op.
NEWCASTLE 7.30
LAHAB (system – Grant Tuer, second run since gelded)
Grant Tuer has a cracking recent record with horses having their second start since a gelding operation, scoring with six of the 17 qualifiers since the beginning of 2021 for a profit of £28.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. LAHAB, third, over 6f here on his stable debut/first start since gelded, won’t be inconvenienced by the step up to 1m (he placed over this trip[ when with Andrew Balding) and can go two places better.
