Liverpool suffered two new injury blows this weekend, as both Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez failed late fitness tests ahead of the Carabao Cup final keeping them out for the Wembley match.
Salah & Nunez Miss Carabao Cup final
Mohamed Salah has only just returned to the Liverpool squad from AFCON and already he is back on the sidelines after picking up a knock during a win against Brentford last weekend.
Salah featured for Liverpool for the first time since the 1st of January last week but after managing a goal and an assist off the bench, the Egyptian was seen struggling with a knock.
Darwin Nunez was another who picked up a late injury during the Brentford win, with Jurgen Klopp’s injury list only growing as we approach the most important months of the season.
Neither Nunez or Salah featured in the matchday squad against Luton on Wednesday – but Liverpool were able to cruise past the Hatters by a comfortable margin despite their depleted squad.
Despite not playing in the week there was hopes that both Nunez and Salah would be available on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final, but surprisingly neither were even named amongst the substitutes making Liverpool’s job against Chelsea all the more difficult.

Its not just Salah and Nunez who are missing for the Reds this weekend, as Liverpool have more injuries than most teams in the Premier League at the moment.
