Andy Newton’s ‘LAY OF THE DAY’ Horse Racing Tip On Saturday: 8:20pm – BOOM BOOM POW
We are waiting till the last race of the day on Saturday as there’s a Mark Usher-trained 4 year-old called BOOM BOOM POW, that looks to have a fair chance on paper, but when delving deeper into her form throws up a few question marks.
First-up is, this grey sprinter has recorded only one career win from 22 runs and that came over 7f at Kempton – she’s over 5f here.
Yes, she was a close 4th over this distance last time at the track and is down a pound, plus also has jockey Tyler Heard claiming 3lsb – meaning she’s 4lbs better off.
However, that sole win I mentioned still came off a 3lbs lower mark and that day she also had a 7lb claiming rider on her back. Therefore, after a few calculations is still 7lbs higher here.
The other negative in my book is the fact connections keep chopping and changing her trip – running over 5f, 6f and 7f in her last five races.
Finally, her run without a win now stands at nine races and is 0-from-7 since joining the Usher camp.
The slight ease from a 0-60, into a 0-58 helps – but overall, she remains a horse that has just one career win from 22 and that came over a two furlong longer trip, which gives us a few things to cling to.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1). Then you could lay this horse for £10.
If the horse loses, you will win £10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out £20 (just like a bookmaker would).
See below another example – if you were to oppose Galopin Des Champs at 2.80 for £10.
You can see the liability if the horse wins would be £18. Or if the horse loses you will win £10 (less any commission).
