GUSTAVIAN (system – time of year)
GUSTAVIAN has a useful record in the months of January and February, recording form figures of 111U22314 (4-9), improving to 111 (3-3) over hurdles only. He was underwhelming when a 9-2 fourth of seven in a handicap chase at Kempton last time but the return to hurdles could suit and he’s worth chancing at a big price.
SANDOWN 4.20
SAN FRANDISCO (system – Jamie Snowden, third run in a bumper)
Jamie Snowden has a fine record with his bumpers runners who were having their third start, scoring with 13 of the 46 qualifiers (28.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £15.93 to a £1 level stake at SP. Point winner SAN FRANDISCO was beaten at Chepstow on his rules debut won well from the front at Haydock last time and can follow up.
WOLVERHAMPTON 5.30
MOREGINPLEASE (system – Time Test, Tapeta, 1m+)
MOREGINPLEASE was only fourth of five at Lingfield last time but that was in a Class 4 contest on Polytrack and the drop to Class 6 level on Tapeta, in addition to the first-time blinkers, could result in an improved effort. Progeny of his sire, Tiem Test, are 13 from 84 when racing over 1m or further on Tapeta for mammoth profit of £226.39 to a £1 level stake at SP.
KEMPTON 6.15
AYE FRED (system – Richard Hannon, second run since gelded, top six finish last time out)
Richard Hannon does well with runners on their second start after a gelding operation, scoring with 24 of the 111 qualifiers for a profit of £51.52. AYE FRED finished well beaten in a 7f Wolverhampton novice contest last time but the 33-1 shot would have needed that and he might do better now handicapping.
