Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has finally acknowledged the ‘No but seriously’ meme that has been doing the rounds for years.

Where Did The Lampard Meme Come From?

Having worked in professional football for over thirty years, exactly when the Lampard ‘No but seriously’ meme reared it’s head is anyone’s guess.

However, Lampard’s bizarre interviews, in which he replies jovially before switching to a sterner demeanour, have largely gained popularity during his managerial career.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder, who won the Premier League as a player, has been a manager since 2018, coaching Derby County, Chelsea and Everton throughout that time, which means there’s plenty of content to choose from.

Lampard Responds To ‘No But Seriously’ Meme

After years without commenting on his meme, the day has finally arrived when Lampard has acknowledged the viral sensation.

With the former Chelsea boss appearing on the Stick to Football podcast, host Jamie Carragher asked Lampard: “Can I ask you one thing? You must be aware when you’re managing and when you do your interviews and you do that thing where you’re laughing and then you go serious?”

Lampard responded: “Yeah, I’ve seen. My daughter sent it to me loads.”

Carragher continued: “Do you know when you’re doing it? Or are you thinking about it?”

To which Lampard replied: “Nah I’ve tried to stop it now. No, I have! My daughter sent it to me ages ago.

“It was a meme, or whatever they call it. But now I’ve seen it I can’t unsee it.

“But I’ve done a few press conferences where I’ve done it and then you think ‘oh sh*t, I’ve just done that’. You know what I mean, I can’t help it!”
