NEWBURY 1.25
INTO THE PARK (system – Philip Hobbs, non-handicap hurdles, Newbury)
Philip Hobbs & Johnson White do well in non-handicap hurdles at Newbury, scoring with 35 of their 163 runners this century for a profit of £157.02 to a £1 level stake at SP. INTO THE PARK, the 5-2 favourite at the time of writing, took a step forward when a 25-1 third in a maiden hurdle at Taunton last time and should have more to offer in this similar contest.
LEICESTER 2.45
NO TACKLE (system – Gentlewave, fences)
Progeny of the sire Gentlewave have a 25 from 121 record over fences for a profit of £26.08 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 15.73, A/E = 1.59). The four previous qualifiers to run at Leicester recorded form figures of 1141 (3-4), with the wins at 10-1, 7-2 and 13-8 and the fourth place at 16-1. There are two in this race – chase debutante Getbazoutofhere and NO TACKLE – with preference for the last-named who was reportedly suffering from an irregular heartbeat when disappointing on his reappearance.
LEICESTER 3.20
EVERYTHING’SONTICK (system – Scorpion, first-time cheekpieces, fences)
Progeny of the sire Scorpion are renowned for their quirks (Might Bite is a good example) and they often respond well to first-time cheekpieces, with the chasers landing 13 of their 80 such starts for a profit of £8.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. Geldings returning from a break of 90 days or less were 12 from 53 for a profit of £25.25 and EVERYTHING’SONTICK can grind out victory in the new headgear.
