LINGFIELD 12.50
BALON D’OR (system – Kodiac, gelded since last run)
Progeny of the sire Kodiac have a useful record on their first run back after a gelding operation, landing 53 of their 374 starts (14.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £199.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. The form of BALON D’OR’s last-time out Kempton third was boosted when runner-up Kodiac Thriller went one better at Lingfield next time and Hugo Palmer’s three-year-old might be able to end a losing run of nine since scoring on his racecourse debut at Musselburgh last spring.
LINGFIELD 1.25
SAX APPEAL (system – Charlie Johnston, second run since gelded, all-weather handicaps)
The Johnston yard has a good record with all-weather handicappers on their second start after a gelding operation, scoring with 21 of the 84 qualifiers since the spring of 2016 for a profit of £26.62. Since Charlie Johnston took over the licence the three qualifiers at Lingfield all won (7-1, 7-2 and 3-1), suggesting that SAX APPEAL could be worth chancing despite only finishing in mid-division at Kempton last time.
WOLVERHAMPTON 5.00
SI SI LA BONNE (system – Kodi Bear, Wolverhampton, 5f-7f)
Progeny of the sire Kodi Bear prefer Tapeta to Polytrack (13% strike-rate, as opposed to 9%) and they do especially well at Wolverhampton over the shorter trips (5f-7f). Backing all the qualifiers would have found 16 winners from 93 bets for a profit of £62.48 to a £1 level stake at SP. SI SI LA BONNE disappointed at Chelmsford on her handicap debut but might do better now switching to Tapeta for the first time.
