Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes another player is to blame for Demba Ba’s title-ending goal in 2014 following Gerrard’s infamous slip.
Liverpool Vs. Chelsea 2013/14
Having just beaten Manchester City to come within touching distance of a first Premier League title in 24 years, the Sky Sports cameras hone in on Steven Gerrard at the centre of a Liverpool team huddle, crying out “This does not f****** slip now”.
Fast forward two weeks and Liverpool have a must-not-lose clash against, a rather dishevelled-looking, Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea side at Anfield.
With the game at 0-0 edging towards the break, the ball is rolled back to Gerrard inside his own half but inexplicably rolls under the Liverpool captain’s studs.
As Chelsea’s Demba Ba pounces onto the loose ball, Gerrard, desperately trying to correct his mistake, slips, leaving Ba bearing down on Simon Mignolet in goal.
The cult hero striker cooly slots past the on-rushing Belgian, leaving a despairing Steven Gerrard to retrieve the ball from the net.
Following the game, Liverpool went on to lose out on the Premier League title by two points to Manchester City and Steven Gerrard retired having never won it.
Back at ya, guys… 😉
7. Demba Ba. That's all.

Carragher Blames Mignolet For Ba Goal
Despite the slip, Gerrard’s long-time friend Jamie Carragher refuses to blame the ex-Liverpool captain for Demba Ba’s goal, instead zeroing in on, then-goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet.
Speaking on The Stick To Football podcast, Carragher said: “I still blame Simon Mignolet for that goal with Demba Ba.
“He was so straight going through on goal, there was nowhere he could put it except through the keeper’s legs.
“He was running so straight on goal that I think it was difficult to score and there was nowhere else he could go.”
Who do you think was to blame for Demba Ba’s title-ending goal?
