Andy Newton’s LAY OF THE DAY: 3:20 Huntingdon – TWENTY TWENTY
There is a certain amount of risk attached this this Gary Moore runner – TWENTY TWENTY – mainly because this 9 year-old is the only recent winner in the field and most of the other six horses have a bit to prove.
That said, this should hopefully keep the price respectable and there are still a few reasons to think this Moore entry is worth taking on.
Firstly, he’s the joint oldest in the field at nine and even though that’s not particularly old – he’s still had 37 races. 17 of those have come over fences, where he’s recorded three wins, with the most recent last time at Wincanton.
He’s up 5lbs for that success and even though this is the same graded race it doesn’t look as strong, so, as a result, he’s got 12st to shoulder now. Which is the first negative, in what will be soft ground.
Okay some may argue that he’s still well-treated (100) as he won off a 7lb higher rating, but that came almost two years ago on quicker ground and with only 10-3 on his back.
Twenty Twenty Is Yet To Record A Back-to-Back Career Win
Twenty Twenty has also won just two of his last 16 starts and during his 37-race career is yet to record a back-to-back win.
Jockey Caoilin Quinn rides and he did the steering last time. He can claim a handy 3lbs again too, but the worry is his track stats. Here at Huntingdon the young pilot is yet to record a winner from 23 starts.
The final plus is that we’ll have several leading yards on our side, including the Jonjo O’Neill (Mullys Choice) team, who have a 21% strike-rate at the track and also Pam Sly (Mixed Wave), who boast a 23% return with their runners at Huntingdon.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1). Then you could lay this horse for ÂŁ10.
If the horse loses, you will win ÂŁ10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out ÂŁ20 (just like a bookmaker would).
See below another example – if you were to oppose Galopin Des Champs at 2.80 for ÂŁ10.
You can see the liability if the horse wins would be ÂŁ18. Or if the horse loses you will win ÂŁ10 (less any commission).
