Los Blancos midfielder Toni Kroos’ every touch was booed when his side faced Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening and now the German has responded on Twitter/X.
Real Madrid Vs. Atletico Madrid
Real Madrid, who currently sit top of La Liga, took on Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final yesterday evening, eventually running out 5-3 winners.
With the game drawing to a close and Atletico Madrid 3-2 up, a late equaliser from Dani Carvajal saw the game head into extra-time with the scores tied at 3-3.
Then, in the second half of extra-time, goals from Joselu and Brahim Diaz were enough to send Los Blancos through to the final of the competition in place of their bitter rivals.
Toni Kroos once said it was “shameful” and “embarrassing” that a player moved to Saudi Arabia.
It seems that Saudi fans don’t forget.

Why Was Kroos Booed?
Unlike most Madrid derbies, this fixture didn’t take place in their shared City, instead taking place at the Al -Awwal Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This spelled disaster for Toni Kroos, who has been an ardent critic of the Saudi Pro League since he labelled Gabi Veiga’s transfer from Celta Vigo to Al-Ahli in the summer “embarrassing”, after the Spaniard had been linked to a host of top European clubs.
Speaking about the Saudi Pro League, Kroos said: “It’s been said that they play ambitious football there, but it’s all about the money. In the end, it’s a decision for the money and against football.
“That’s when it starts to become difficult for the football we all know and love.
“Everyone has to make that decision for themselves, like Cristiano Ronaldo, who decided to do it towards the end of his career.
“But it becomes very difficult when players, who are in the middle of their career and have the quality to play for the best clubs in Europe, decide to make those changes.”
As a result of these comments, Kroos’ every touch was booed by the crowd, even if they were wearing a Real Madrid shirt.
Kroos’ Cheeky Response To Being Booed
However, the German appears to have found the funny side of the situation, cheekily Tweeting after the game: “That was fun today! Amazing crowd”.
