Callum Smith is widely regarded as one of the best light-heavyweight boxers in the world. Boasting an impressive record of 29-2 with 21 knockouts, Smith is one of the world’s best at 175-pounds. Although he was comprehensively beaten and knocked out by Artur Beterbiev last time out, he is still a Top 5 fighter at light-heavyweight.
Prior to the Beterbiev fight, the last time we saw Smith in action was back in December 2022 on the Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2 undercard. Smith won via fourth round knockout on just his second fight at light-heavyweight. Now he has had three fights at 175-pounds, it is unknown what Smith will do next.
‘Mundo’ was understandably the big underdog with the best boxing betting sites to beat Beterbiev, but he certainly gave it a good go in defeat. As Smith’s record suggests, he is a frighteningly hard-hitting puncher, as well as boasting an astute boxing IQ and skillset to match. Callum Smith has had a fantastic boxing career so far. Almost punch perfect. He has gradually stepped up levels each and every time he has fought. It comes as no surprise that he is one of Britain’s best fighters, having shown serious promise from the early days as a Matchroom fighter signed to famous promoter Eddie Hearn.
After turning professional over a decade ago, ‘Mundo’ went to 7-0 before picking up his first belt as a pro. In his eighth fight, Smith won the vacant English Super-Middleweight Title via knockout. Smith went the traditional route in the end, winning the vacant British Super-Middleweight Title in his 18th fight.
Smith beat fellow Liverpudlian Rocky Fielding for the vacant Lonsdale belt, as well as defending his WBC Silver Title he had won the fight previous against Christopher Rebrasse. It was evident at this stage that Smith was going all the way to world honours.
Smith moved to 19-0 in his next fight, picking up the European Title after a one round blowout of Hadillah Mohoumadi. Following that, Smith then progressed his record to 22-0 before entering the World Boxing Super Series tournament at 168-pounds.
Smith beat Erik Skoglund and Nieky Holzken, both via unanimous decision, winning the WBC Diamond belt in the process. Then came Smith’s crowning night.
‘Mundo’ defeated reigning world champion and fellow Brit George Groves in the final of the WBSS, becoming WBA-Super World Super Middleweight Champion and also lifting the coveted Muhammad Ali trophy.

Smith then made two defences of his world super-middleweight title against John Ryder and Hassan N’Dam, before fighting the great Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. This remains the only defeat on the Callum Smith record, as the Englishman was widely outpointed by the elite Mexican.
Then came the move up to light-heavyweight, where Smith campaigns now. He won his first two bouts at 175-pounds via knockout, before challenging Artur Beterbiev for his unified world title belts in January 2024. Smith was a huge underdog with UK betting apps to win, which proved to be correct as he was knocked out in Round 7 of the contest.
That takes us up to now for Callum Smith’s record in boxing. It remains to be see as to what Callum Smith does next in boxing.
