Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Victor Osimhen has been urged to follow in the footsteps of Didier Drogba in joining the Premier League by Emmanuel Adebayor.
Osimhen has been heavily linked with some of Europe’s biggest teams, off the back of a Serie A title-winning campaign where he scored 31 goals.
The Nigeria international committed to a new deal in December, tying him down at Napoli until 2026, which is keeping his asking price high.
However, with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in need of a proven goalscorer up front, talk of a move to the Premier League continues to swirl.
Emmanuel Adebayor Urges Osimhen To Join Premier League
Adebayor, who played for the Gunners as well as Tottenham and Manchester City, has encouraged Osimhen to follow in the footsteps of Drogba, his boyhood idol, in making a move to England.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Adebayor said, “He has the right attitude, mentality and determination to excel there (in England).
“I’m praying for him to move to the Premier League and show what he’s capable of. The Premier League is the toughest and best (league) in the world.
“Osimhen has shown and done it already in Italy; I think it is the right time for him to move to England and replace his idol, Drogba, and do beautiful things.
“He has all it takes to make a name and write a great chapter in England like Drogba.”
Drogba enjoyed two fruitful stints at Chelsea during his prime, securing prestigious honours such as the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with the Blues.
His achievements have served as a source of inspiration for many, including Osimhen, as they aspire to achieve comparable success.
At the time of writing, UK bookmakers have priced Chelsea to be Osimhen’s next club at 4/5. You can view Osimhen’s full next-club odds here.
