Andy Newton’s LAY OF THE DAY: 1:24 Lingfield – LOST IN TIME
This Dean Ivory runner will be popular after a good win at the track in the middle of December. However, LOST IN TIME only got up by 1/2 a length that day and will need a tad more off a 2lb higher mark this time.
This also looks a bit more competitive with ten other runners taking him on and despite being a proven CD winner at the Surrey track it’s still worth noting that last success was his first on the AW (from 17 runs).
He’s also won just three of his 35 starts overall and is yet to record back-to-back victories too. The experienced Robert Havlin continues in the saddle and fresh from that win Lost In Time sure to figure high-up in the betting, but on the whole there seems to be enough to suggest he’s worth taking on today.

What Is Lay Betting On Horse Racing?
In short lay betting is to bet on something NOT to happen.
With the introduction of betting exchanges like Betfair, punters can now bet on a horse or a team NOT to win by effectively becoming a bookmaker.
This can be done by staking against a horse or team on a betting exchange.
For example, if you think a horse won’t win a race and it’s 3.00 (2/1), then you could lay this horse for £10.
If the horse loses, you will win £10 (less any set commission). Or if the horse wins you will have to pay out £20 (just like a bookmaker would).
See below another example – if you were to oppose Galopin Des Champs at 2.80 for £10.
You can see the liability if the horse wins would be £18. Or if the horse loses you will win £10 (less any commission).
