Ipswich Town have become the first team in England’s top four tiers to reach the 100-point mark in 2023, and it comes just before their crucial East Anglian Derby against Norwich on Saturday.

Having been appointed by Ipswich Town nearly 2 years ago to the day, Kieran McKenna’s time at the club has been nothing short of sensational.
In his first full season in Suffolk, the former Manchester United coach tranformed the Tractor Boys style of play, leading them to 2nd place in League One and promotion to the Championship.
Now, anyone thinking that Ipswich were to become the whipping boys of the Championship could not have been more wrong.
Since making the step up from League One, the Tractor Boys have been imperious. Having scraped past 10-man Sunderland in their nervy opening day fixture, Ipswich have, since then, gone from strength to strength.

Kieran McKenna’s side now find themselves in 2nd place in the Championship on 51-points after 21 games, just 1-point behind former Premier League side, Leicester City.
As a result of this, both Ipswich and Leicester have made the best 20-game starts to a Championship season ever, with Ipswich also making the best start for a newly promoted team.
Following Ipswich’s 2-1 away victory against Watford on Tuesday night, the Suffolk-based side reached an important milestone by becoming the first side in England’s top four tiers to reach 100 points in 2023.

When Did Ipswich Last Win An East Anglian Derby?
On Saturday, Town will head into their first East Anglian derby since 2019, where they lost 3-0 to their bitter rivals at Carrow road.
In fact, following an extended period of dominance for the Canaries, Town have not won an East Anglian derby since 2009, a 3-2 victory at Portman Road.
However, with Ipswich’s stock on the rise and Norwich languishing in midtable, struggling for form, the blue side of East Anglia will be hopeful of ending their 14-year derby drought.
