Celtic vs Feyenoord Preview
Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic bring their torrid Champions League campaign to a close on Wednesday night, as they welcome Eredivisie champions Feyenoord to Glasgow for their final game in Group E.
The Glaswegians have failed to win any of their five games in the group and occupy bottom spot with a single point, meanwhile their Dutch counterparts are five points ahead in third place – meaning that they’ll drop down to the Europa League come the next round of European fixtures.
Celtic come into this one off the back of a bitterly disappointing defeat too, losing 2-1 to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership last time out. The Bhoys initially took the lead through Matt O’Riley, but a second half own-goal from Nat Phillips kickstarted the comeback before Matthew Kennedy snatched the points for the hosts late on.
As for Feyenoord, they bounced back from two successive defeats with a 3-1 win over Volendam on Thursday evening. A Quinten Timber strike and a late double from Santiago Gimenez and Igor Paixao were enough to seal all three points in Rotterdam, with Arne Slot’s side now occupying second place in the league.
