Gabby Agbonlahor has hit out at Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool manager’s reaction when asked about his love for early kick-offs after the Reds win over Sheffield United on match week 15.

The talkSPORT pundit explained on Thursday’s show how Klopp struggled to understand Amazon presenter Marcus Buckland’s joke, and went on to call him a ‘big baby.’

Gabby Agbonlahor’s Quotes

“He’s a big baby isn’t he? It’s okay when he wants to make a joke about things but the poor presenter, he’s having a little joke about it. Liven up, Jurgen. Liven up.

“They’re quite touchy aren’t they? These managers. Pep Guardiola had a go at Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. I feel like presenters now, you don’t know when you can have a joke with these managers. They’re so touchy,” Agbonlahor told Alan Brazil.

Jurgen Klopp Quotes

Marcus Buckland appeared to tee up Jurgen Klopp for the frosty response when he said: “You’ve had to shuffle your pack you’ve got all these games in Europe and now you go to Crystal Palace – your favourite kick off time at the weekend.”

Klopp went on to say: “That’s great, that’s really great to make a joke about that. Yeah now we go home I don’t know what time we arrive maybe one o’clock or two o’clock and then we play again we maybe have two sessions. Tomorrow and Friday.

“It’s fine to recover and then we play again. Crystal Palace play again tonight so that’s fine. But I realise you don’t understand that as well even when you work in football so why should I try to explain it again. All good you can say what you want just because I cannot say what I want because that would be different,” an angry Klopp added.

Social Media Reactions

The reaction on X, formerly Twitter, was relatively mixed but many were quick to jump to the defence of the Liverpool manager. Some believe Agbonlahor has often criticised Klopp and was looking for further attention. Others pointed out the fact that they believed Agbonlahor was a ‘bang average player’ whilst at Aston Villa.

Further comments went on to say how often the Reds do entertain the early kick-off on a Saturday whilst others believed Agbonlahor’s comments were justified. Ahead of the weekend clash, the best UK betting sites make Liverpool the 11/20 match favourites, the draw 15/4 and Crystal Palace 5/1.
