You may be wondering – who is Gabriel Moscardo? The teenager has been doing the rounds on the transfer rumour mill of late, most recently being linked with the likes of Chelsea and PSG.
Who is Gabriel Moscardo?
There appears to be a flurry of talent pouring from the Brazilian Serie A at the moment in time, with the likes of Vitor Roque and Endrick – who are Barcelona and Real Madrid bound respectively – chief among them.
One other notable name who has been commanding attention from some of Europe’s more youth-orientated projects is Gabriel Moscardo, who has quickly risen to prominence at Corinthians.
Sau Paulo born-and-bred, the recently-turned 18-year-old has forced his way into the first team after making the step up at the half-way stage of the season.
Gabriel Moscardo Playing Style
Standing at just over six-foot at 18, Moscardo’s presence in the midfield will grow even stronger as he matures with age, but for now he is already a commanding figure.
Operating largely as a defensive midfielder, he possesses all the base-level attributes needed to be successful in a hugely demanding role, that carries so much importance in the modern game.
His lanky physique may fool you into thinking he lacks mobility, but especially with the ball at this feet, he is able to shift through the gears with ease. He excels in possession, completing just over 80% of his passes across 14 season appearances, although that figure could well be higher if he didn’t regularly attempt defence-splitting passes.
Technically, he is excellent, but he has a strong personality well beyond his years and isn’t afraid to tell teammates – some decades his senior – where to be. He also never shies aways from putting in the dirty work, which is perhaps his greatest attribute; he is averaging over two tackles per-90, along with 1.4 interceptions.
Like Rodri for Manchester City, or Didier Deschamps for France back in the mid-to-late 1990’s, his unrelenting work rate defensively allows the technicians on the team to thrive.
Everything is undertaken with total assurance – a rarity for a player as young and relatively inexperienced as Moscardo is.
Which Teams Are Linked With Gabriel Moscardo?
Teams across Europe have been keeping close tabs on the teenager’s progress in the Corinthians youth set-up, but since making the step up, interested parties have also stepped up their own interest.
Wide spread reports this week suggested Chelsea had submitted a proposal in excess of £20m, although they have quickly been rubbished as rumours.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano instead suggested on Tuesday that PSG have made serious inquiries regarding his availability, and will look to make a move in the very near future.
The Brazilian has also been linked with Premier League leaders Arsenal in the past, which should come as no surprise given sporting director Edu and his network of scouts in Brazil.
