Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes that his faltering forward players will eventually start producing the goods in the Premier League.

Manchester United’s Strike Force

It’s no secret that Manchester United have had a troublesome start to the 2023/24 Premier League campaign and this is in no small part down to their lack of cutting-edge up front.

Sitting sixth in the table, Manchester United have only scored 13 goals this season. Compare that to the teams that sit top of the table – Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham who have scored 32, 27, 26 and 24 goals respectively.

Manchester United forwards Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Anthony Martial, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri have scored one Premier League goal between them all season – with the sole strike coming from Marcus Rashford against Arsenal at the beginning of September.

Instead, Manchester United have had to rely on goals from elsewhere. Scott Mctominay, Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof have all pitched in recently to get Manchester United the results they need.

However, boss Erik ten Hag still believes that his side’s blunt strike force will eventually come good.

What Did Ten Hag Say About Manchester United’s Strike Force?

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday, the Dutch coach said: “Our players are able to score goals. They’ve shown it already. Rashy scored 30 goals last season, Rasmus has scored five Champions League goals.

“Not many players across Europe can deliver that. So our players are capable of scoring goals and there will come a point when they will. As a group, we’re ranked fifth in the Premier League for creating chances so the players need to step up and deal with the pressures.”

Manchester United face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, where the Red Devils will be hoping to put to bed their woes in front of goal.
