Following the climax of England’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, pundits Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards have given their thoughts on what the starting eleven should like for the competition.

England ended their qualification campaign on Monday with a 1-1 draw against North Macedonia, meaning they finished the process unbeaten.

Gareth Southgate’s will take charge of his fourth major tournament, as he looks to go a step further than England managed in Euro 2021 – losing in the final to Italy.

The England manager has faced criticism in recent months, with odds for the next England manager now available, after continuously selecting Jordan Henderson and Kalvin Phillips. With the former now playing in Saudi Arabia and Phillips playing just 89 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Following the recent matches, Lineker, Shearer and Richards, hosts of The Rest Is Football Podcast, selected their lineups for the upcoming tournament.

The trio have found huge success in the realm of podcasting, as they continue to rank first in various sports podcast standings.

Each member of the podcast agreed on Jordan Pickford taking the number one spot, as the Everton goalkeeper enters his fourth tournament for England.

However, the rest of their preferred starting eleven’s differ in various places, with Shearer opting for Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire and John Stones – whereas Lineker chose Marc Guehi over Maguire.

Harry Kane was a constant selection in each side, as England’s captain and record goalscorer looks to lead his country to European silverware for the first time in history.
