Matt Chapman Friday Cheltenham Tips For ITV Racing
1:45 – Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+ 0-150) 2m ITV4: DO YOUR JOB (EACH WAY) @ 7/2
“ITV go to Cheltenham Friday starting here with a handicap chase over two miles. Most of these will find soft ground testing them as there aren’t many mud lovers in here. For that reason I will take a chance with top weight DO YOUR JOB for Lucinda Russell and Derek Fox.
He’s down to 140 now which gives him a chance on ratings, but his recent form needs to improve after a move from the Michael Scudamore stable. The drop in drip is interesting. I’ll risk each way in a horrible betting heat.”
2:20 – SSS Super Alloys Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) (Registered As The November) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m ITV4: JPR ONE @ 6/4
“Up in class here for a Grade 2 novices’ chase over two miles. Not a field to get that excited about. Mighty Tom is the best on ratings but I’ll chance JPR ONE for Joe Tizzard and jockey Brendan Powell.
My hope won a little race over fences at Newton Abbot last time but had been good over hurdles at Aintree in April. He promised much as a young horse and maybe still has more to come. Another tough call though.”
2:55 – Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (5yo+) 3m5½f ITV4: DELTA WORK @ 7/4
“A cross country chase here over nearly three and three-quarter miles. Galvin and Delta Work should dominate and it’s almost 50-50. I’ll side with the dual Cross Country Chase hero DELTA WORK who ran well enough when third to Minella Indo at Punchestown in October.
He’s still only 10 going on 11 and that should have put him spot on for this event. He has to be in at the finish for Gordon Elliott and Keith Donoghue.”
3:30 – Trustatrader Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) (Registered As The Hyde Novices’ Hurdle) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m5f ITV4: CAPTAIN TEAGUE @ 8/13
“A Grade 2 novices’ hurdle over two miles and five furlongs. Hard to get away from CAPTAIN TEAGUE for the champion Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. The big gelding looked good and still green when scoring at Chepstow first time out this season and will stay this trip no problem. He can outclass this field.”
