Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has released a new book about his career at Liverpool titled ‘Si Senior: My Liverpool Years.’ In the book he speaks of Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp but what he had to say about Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s relationship has stunned readers.

What did he say about Salah and Mane?

Firmino, Mane and Salah were a dynamite trio who were integral to Liverpool’s recent success. But Firmino shared some background stories on the relationship that the two shared.

The story goes back to August 2019 when Mane was fuming at Salah for selfishly taking a chance by himself and missing as opposed to passing the ball to Mane who would’ve had the easier chance.

Mane was then taken off by Klopp and the winger continued with his rage on the bench. Firmino said: “Salah and Mane had had their little problems before, but that time everything happened on the field, there for the world to see. That day, at Burnley, the lid came off.

“Their argument wasn’t funny. Potentially, it could have caused problems for us. Maybe the Boss [ Klopp] and some others were worried.”

“They were never best friends; each kept himself to himself. It was rare to see the two of them talking and I’m not sure if that had to do with the Egypt–Senegal rivalry in African competitions.

Firmino later said that it took a meeting from Klopp that got Salah to work on his selfishness on the ball.

He added: “I don’t know if he was aware of it or not, but Salah used to frustrate everyone when he didn’t pass the ball. I knew how to handle that situation better than most.

“Klopp addressed this issue in front of all of us: when a teammate was in a better position, the ball had to be passed. It was a clear hint aimed at Salah.

How good were Salah, Firmino and Mane?

There may have been problems off the pitch but on the pitch the trio were electric. Between them they netted 338 times that lead Liverpool to winning every major trophy they could get their hands on.
It’s just Salah that remains in Merseyside as Mane left for Bayern Munich in 2022 and Firmino departed for Saudi Arabia in the summer. Mane did join him too as he signed for Al Nassr to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Salah is also on the wishlist of Al-Ittihad who tried luring the Egyptian from Liverpool in the summer but the Reds were adamant they wanted Salah to stay at least for another season.
