Match Report: Manchester City vs Young Boys
- The Cityzens got off to a strong start as Erling Haaland established his presence and the Norwegian gave the hosts a lead from the penalty spot.
- Pep Guardiola’s side doubled their lead just before the break, as Phil Foden took the ball down beautifully and guided the ball into the bottom corner.
- City started the second-half in similar fashion, dominating the ball and Haaland was on target again to extend their lead to three – as the 22-year-old smashed the ball in from just outside the area.
- Things went from bad to worse for the visitors, as in the 59th minute Sandro Lauper was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.
- It was plain-sailing from there for the current Champions League holders and they cruised to a 3-0 victory against Young Boys.
Will Erling Haaland Reclaim The Champions League Golden Boot?
Erling Haaland scored his third/fourth goal of the competition against Young Boys and looks likely to retain the award that he won during City’s triumph last season.
The Cityzens have made a faultless start to their title defence, winning all of their four group stage matches so far and tonight’s victory reiterated that domination.
The Norweigan was on target from the penalty spot and then unleashed a trademark finish to secure his brace. Meaning, the former Borussia Dortmnud striker will be looking to add to his tally in City’s next European clash, as they face RB Leipzig.
He will face stiff competition, as Jude Bellingham , Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe continue to score goals for their respective clubs.
