Hollie Doyle Will Ride Future History In The 2023 Melbourne Cup
Hollie Doyle will make the long trip to Australia to ride in the 2023 Melbourne Cup this Tuesday as she gets the leg-up on Future History, who represents last year’s winner trainers Ciaron Maher & David Eustace.
The pair teamed-up 12 months to win ‘The Race That Stops A Nation’ with Gold Trip, who is also back for more, but the yard have booked top UK jockey Hollie Doyle to ride another of their Melbourne Cup runners – Future History, who is at 16/1 with BetMGM.
This will be Doyle’s first ride in the race and also her debut ride on the horse after this 5 year-old was last seen running a close-up third in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup with Craig Williams riding – beaten just 3/4 of a length to Cleveland. Craig Williams will ride Lastotchka instead.
Future History is also draw in the middle of the pack in 13, but last year’s winner, Gold Trip, also won the Melbourne Cup from this starting berth – so can lightning strike twice?
As well at last year’s winner Gold Trip and Doyle-ridden Future History – the Maher/Eustace barn will also run Right You Are, Ashrun and Interpretation in a five-pronged attack on the Melbourne Cup 2023 this year.

Hollie Doyle Looking To Become Only The Second Female Melbourne Cup Winning Jockey
If Hollie Doyle can steer home Future History in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup she’ll become only the second female winner of the famous Flemington Park race, with Michelle Payne creating history in 2015 when she rode Prince Of Penzance to victory.
Hollie Doyle, who is riding in the race for the first time, will join Rachel King (Military Mission) and the only two female riders in the 2023 Melbourne Cup.
