One of the theories I’m championing this jumps season is the likely improvement from older progeny of Fame And Glory. The sire’s hurdlers and chasers are profitable to back blind at age eight (42 winners from 351 runners, 12%, +£9.76 to a £1 level stake at SP) and the nine-year-old, his oldest crop, are 11 from 69 (16%) for a profit of £71.63. ROYAL THIEF returned from a 782-day absence to score at 14-1 on his nine-year-old debut in January when trained by Henry De Bromhead before a respectable sixth in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham festival. He also won at the first time of asking in 2019/20 and in 2020/21, suggesting a big run on his debut for Gordon Elliott in the Cork Grand National Handicap Chase. CARLISLE 3.40
YES INDEED ran with credit at Uttoxeter last time, finishing second and faring best of those to come from off the pace, but such tactics are rarely helpful at Carlisle and stablemate Morning Spirit, fourth in the same race (also under a patient ride), was very disappointing when running here next time, pulling up as a 4-1 joint-favourite. Yes Indeed is now 0-8 since leaving France and has been beaten by 86 and 59 lengths in his two previous runs right-handed. Sell in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market.
Recommendation: Oppose YES INDEED in Carlisle 3.40
