Everton signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Sheffield United when he was a teenager for £1.5million. He has now reached the 50-goal milestone for the Toffees, but how far away is he from being the top Premier League goal scorer for Everton?
Calvert-Lewin Eyes Lukaku’s Everton Scoring Record
Romelu Lukaku is Everton’s top Premier League goalscorer with 68 goals. Within three years at the club, he surpassed Duncan Ferguson who held the previous top scorer record with 60 goals.
However, there is a new challenger to become the ‘top toffee’ as striker Calvert-Lewin is now on 50 goals after netting in Everton’s recent shock 1-0 win over West Ham.
He is now just 18 goals away from levelling up with Lukaku and needs 19 to become Everton’s leading scorer in the Premier League.
The number nine is currently fourth in Everton’s all-time leading Premier League goalscorer and only six goals behind Toffees legend Tim Cahill in third.
Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries which has held the England striker back from reaching his full potential. He joined Everton in summer of 2016, but his first goal came in March 2017 against Hull City.
Everton host Brighton in the Premier League next on Saturday (4th Nov) in a 3pm kick-off where Calvert-Lewin will be hoping for goal number 51.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin Still Some Way Off Dixie Dean’s Everton Haul
However, despite reaching the bullseye milestone of 50 league goals for Everton, Calvert-Lewin still has a mountain to climb to get near former toffee legend Dixie Dean.
Dean fired in an incredible 383 goals for the Merseyside club in just 433 appearances between 1925-1937, which also included 37 hat-tricks.
