Young Boys vs Manchester City Team News & Injury Update
Pep Guardiola could opt for a rotated side for tonight’s contest in Switzerland, ahead of Sunday’s huge local derby against Manchester United.
City pretty much have a full squad to choose from, with Kevin De Bruyne still the only confirmed absentee after the injury he picked up on the opening night of the Premier League season. The Belgian was subbed off in the first half against Burnley and was ruled out for up to four months due to a hamstring problem.
Manuel Akanki is available for the side despite picking up a red card in the win over Brighton at the weekend. His one-game suspension only applies to the league, meaning he will miss Sunday’s colossal clash.
Ederson is likely to come back into the starting side after missing the Brighton win due to fatigue, following a late return from international duty with Brazil.
Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis could also start with wholesale changes expected.
As for Young Boys, they remain without Kastriot Imery, whose ACL injury is set to keep him out for the remainder of the season. Darien Males is also a major doubt due to a knock.
The hosts picked up a draw last time out against Crvena Zvezda, and are yet to win in Group G so far, and they will more than likely have to wait for that first victory up against a strong Man City side.
