The Saturday action starts at 1:15pm and runs till 4:45pm – to help we’ve listed our 1-2-3 Showcase Cheltenham tips and key trends for the LIVE ITV races on Saturday 28th October.

1:15 – Epic Value At William Hill Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 2m ITV

  • HADDEX DES OBEAUX 11/4
  • Before Midnight
  • Guy

Gary Moore’s improving 6 year-old Haddex Des Obeaux had a great time of it last season – winning his last two – and will head here 2-from-4 over fences. Yes, he had a few niggles since the last of those wins in January and had to miss the Festival as a result, but has been well rested and is back on Saturday. Up another 10lbs, but has had another summer on his back to strengthen up and looks the sort to have a lot more to come. Before Midnight, who won this race in 2021, can go well too, with the hat-trick-seeking Guy another to note from the Twiston-Davies team, who were on the scoresheet at the meeting on Friday.

  • Just 8 past runnings
  • 8/8 – Aged between 6 or 8 years-old
  • 8/8 – Priced 15/2 or shorter
  • 7/8 – Ran 6 months or more ago
  • 7/8 – Had raced at the track before
  • 7/8 – Won between 2-4 times over fences
  • 6/8 – Placed favourites (top three)
  • 5/8 – Carried 11-1 or more in weight
  • 5/8 – Placed in the top 3 last time out
  • 4/8 – Raced at Cheltenham last time out
  • 4/8 – Rated between 140-147
  • 3/8 – French bred
  • 3/8 – Favourites
  • 3/8 – Won their last race
  • Before Midnight won the race in 2021

1:50 – Masterson Holdings Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo) 2m½f ITV

  • BLUEKING D’OROUX 5/4
  • Spirit D’Aunou
  • Bois Guillbert

Has a bit of a two-horse feel to it, but the Paul Nicholls runner Blueking D’Oroux is the clear top-rated and looks worth sticking with over the Gary Moore winning machine Spirit D’Aunou. This 4 year-old was last seen running a fine second at Aintree in a competitive Handicap Hurdle for Conditional jockeys’ in April and at just 4 will be a much stronger horse this season. The yard also won this race in 2019, with Harry Cobden riding too and with the best form in the book is the one to beat.

  • 10/14 – Had won 2 or less times over hurdles
  • 10/14 – Having their first run of the new jumps season
  • 8/14 – Placed last time out
  • 8/14 – Priced 10/3 or shorter in the betting
  • 7/14 – Carried 10-12 in weight
  • 6/14 – Placed favourites
  • 5/14 – Irish bred winners
  • 4/14 – Irish-trained winners
  • 4/14 – Favourites
  • 3/14 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
  • Gordon Elliott has won the race twice since 2014
  • Just 1 winning favourite in last 9 renewals

2:25 – Epic Jumps Season At William Hill Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 3m1f ITV

  • LORD ACCORD 9/2
  • Undersupervision
  • Twig

Lord Accord won this race 12 months ago and can go well again off just a pound higher mark. This Neil Mulholland runner has warmed up for this with a run at Warwick earlier this month over hurdles, with this race likely in mind and should be spot on now after looking in need of the run that day. Undersupervision for the Twiston-Davies yard and Twig, who is seeking a three-timer, can also go well.

  • 15/16 – Priced 10/1 or shorter in the betting market
  • 14/16 – Won over at least 3m before
  • 12/16 – Winning distance – 3 lengths or less
  • 11/16 – Unplaced favourites
  • 11/16 – First run of the season
  • 11/16 – Irish bred winners
  • 10/16 – Rated 134 or higher
  • 10/16 – Carried 10-11 or more in weight
  • 8/16 – Had won at Cheltenham before
  • 8/16 – Unplaced last time out
  • 7/16 – Won by a horse aged 8 years-old
  • 1/16 – Favourites
  • Lord Accord (15/2) won the race in 2022

3:00 – Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (Pertemps Hurdle Series Qualifier) (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 3m ITV

  • HYLAND (e/w) 10/1
  • Ringdufferin
  • Bugs Moran

Hyland is from the Nicky Henderson yard and comes here off the back of a nice win at Warwick. Up just 6lbs for that looks fair, but it was also his first outing 6 months so can be expected to have improved for the outing. That win took his tally to 3 wins and 8 top three finishes over hurdles and at the age of 6 should have more in the tank. In an open affair the Irish pair of Gordon Elliott’s Ringdufferin and Noel Meade’s Bugs Moran come here off the back of good runs and are sure to be popular too in a race the Irish took last season too.

  • 10/14 – Carried 10-13 or less in weight
  • 10/14 – Priced 17/2 or bigger in the betting
  • 10/14 – Had run at Cheltenham before (4 winners)
  • 9/14 – Aged between 6-8 years-old
  • 8/14 – Unplaced favourites
  • 8/14 – Ran in the top 3 last time out
  • 8/14 – Last ran 6 month+ ago
  • 7/14 – Irish Bred
  • 5/14 – Won last time out
  • 3/14 – Favourites
  • 2/14 – Mare winners
  • 2/14 – Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies
