Manchester United are preparing to activate one-year extension options in the contracts of Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Hannibal Mejbri, according to Manchester Evening News.

With injuries mounting up for Man United, the trio have proved to be important squad members under Erik ten Hag.

Wan-Bissaka has experienced somewhat of a resurgence under Ten Hag, making 39 appearances since the manager’s arrival last summer. The right-back’s representatives have engaged in discussions with the club regarding an improved contract.

Lindelof, who has been with Manchester United since 2017, has provided cover for the injured Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez this season. He has made 10 appearances this season, contributing to three clean sheets. The Sweden international recently expressed his desire to continue at Old Trafford.

Hannibal Mejbri has been a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing start to the season for Manchester United. After a period on loan at Championship side Birmingham City, Hannibal returned to United this season and has featured in four matches across all competitions. Ten Hag has praised the 20-year-old’s impact and professionalism.

These extensions may grant Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff time to assess whether they are viable long-term options or if they are to be sold in the near future.

However, the club’s decision to trigger these one-year contract extensions could be influenced by the ongoing takeover situation. If Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group gains control of the club’s football operations, the circumstances may change.

Meanwhile, there are doubts regarding Anthony Martial’s future. Martial, who has been with United for eight years, has faced injuries and inconsistent form. He has made six Premier League appearances this season but has yet to score.

With the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund during the summer, the Frenchman’s role in the team has become uncertain. The latter’s contract with Manchester United expires next summer.
