Chelsea’s Reece James faces further frustration as he withdraws from group training, making him an injury doubt for the Arsenal clash.

James had anticipated a return in the London derby, having been sidelined since his hamstring injury in August. However, his comeback may be postponed, as he was seen training solo at Cobham, according to Standard.

The Chelsea captain has now picked up 17 different injuries, missing 90 games for the Blues. These constant niggles have to be a concern for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

In his absence, Pochettino is likely to rely on Malo Gusto at right-back. The Frenchman is back in contention following suspension. Meanwhile, the availability of Armando Broja and Carney Chukwuemeka remain uncertain for the game against Arsenal. Concerns loom over the latter’s knee pain as he returns to full training. In Broja’s potential absence, Nicolas Jackson is likely to be reintroduced into the Chelsea attack.

Fortunately, Cole Palmer and Axel Disasi are likely to be match fit after recovering from their respective injuries during the international break.

Pochettino faces a selection dilemma for Arsenal’s visit to Stamford Bridge, as several key players, including Ben Chilwell, Christopher Nkunku, Romeo Lavia, and Wesley Fofana, remain unavailable. Nonetheless, the Argentine manager aims to continue his team’s winning streak, after achieving three consecutive victories before the international break.
