Former PSG superstar, Neymar Jr, was stretchered off in a flood of tears during a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay after suffering a horrific knee injury.

Neymar, who has recently move to Saudi Arabian side, Al Hilal, suffered a serious knee injury in the latter stages of Brazil’s defeat to South American rivals, Uruguay.

The former Barcelona player, who is still the most expensive footballer of all time (£198m), fell to the floor during a clash with Nicolas de la Cruz as his knee took the brunt of the force.

Immediately the 31-year-old writhed around in pain and could be seen visibly concerned, screaming in pain as his teammates grew worried with the extent of the injury.

Neymar could then be seen with his hands covering any glimpse of his face while he was being stretchered off the field in what looked like a flood of tears.

After the match, the Brazilian could be spotted leaving the stadium on crutches and supporters are now thinking the worst. The national team’s doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, revealed the latest on how serious the injury is a this moment in time.

Lasmar said: “We did all the tests and we will repeat them tomorrow. Those 24 hours are key to see how his knee will respond, how swollen it will be and what images will show.

“Let’s wait for the exams with calmness, evaluate with calmness and tell you once we have a diagnosis.”

Neymar has made a strong start to life in Saudi Arabia, where he is earning a reported £300m a year, with his contract shocking fans in the world of football.

During his opening stage at Al Hilal, the winger has contributed to four goals in the opening five matches, after returning from a recent muscular problem.

If this injury is as serious as first thought, we could see the beginning of a huge decline for the Brazilian after a string of recent injuries.
