David Raya reveals the relationship between himself and Aaron Ramsdale is ‘very good’ despite replacing the England international as Arsenal’s number one.

The Spanish shot-stopper spoke in a recent interview about his current situation at Arsenal and what the dynamic is like with Ramsdale.

Since signing for Arsenal this summer, Raya has slowly worked his way into the starting eleven and is now seen as Mikel Arteta’s number one choice between the sticks.

The former Brentford player was left on the bench for the opening three league fixtures, but has since played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s last four Premier League matches – taking Ramsdale’s spot.

Arteta has clearly preferred his side’s performances with the Spaniard in goal and is unlikely to revert back to his starting option from last season.

However the Arsenal manager has been adamant in his recent interviews that Ramsdale has not lost his place in the Arsenal set up.

The Spaniard said: “We have two good goalkeepers there and it’s big competition. We are lucky to have two such good goalkeepers and we will see who will play, but both of them are excellent.”

In a recent interview, David Raya spoke about life at Arsenal and his current situation with Ramsdale, claiming despite the recent coverage the duo  have a ‘very good’ relationship.

Raya said: “The relationship, very good. Of course I fight to be the number one. But at the end of the day, we are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problem.”

Ramsdale has been away on England duty and is not expected to return to Arsenal’s starling lineup this weekend, as the Gunners travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea have won their last two Premier League fixtures and will be looking to hand Arsenal their first defeat of the campaign.
