Bruno Fernandes was full of praise towards Cristiano Ronaldo this weekend, with the Manchester United captain saying he is grateful to have lived through the icon’s era.
Bruno’s High Praise For Ronaldo
Despite enduring a sour end to his Manchester United career, Cristiano Ronaldo is still seen as a Premier League legend for the Red Devils and Bruno Fernandes certainly hasn’t lost any love for his international teammate.
The United captain spoke ahead of his nation’s Euro qualifier against Bosnia on Monday evening, saying he is grateful to have played with Ronaldo for both club and country.
“Do I have the notion that I’m playing alongside a history maker? No, I don’t have a notion, I have the certainty! We’re all aware of it.
“We all understand the force and impact that Ronaldo has, the force and the impact that Ronaldo has had on the future of many of us Portuguese players, the opportunities that he’s created for the future generations of players, the way others began to look at Portugal.
Bruno Fernandes with a beautiful post-game interview on Cristiano Ronaldo:
“It’s easy to create goals for Cristiano, everyone knows he’s a player above the rest. I’ve always had this relationship with Ronaldo, not only in Portugal, but at Manchester United as well.

“They already had started looking at us with more respect, but everything that Ronaldo achieved meant our name was more feared, and obviously we are grateful to have lived in this era, because it was a privilege for us to watch Cristiano play and at the same time I had the chance to play alongside him.”
Ronaldo scored two goals against Slovakia on Friday night to secure Portugal’s qualification to Euro 2024, with the crowd celebrating the legend’s 200th appearance for his country shortly before the game kicked off.

“He’s done extraordinary things that will probably never be repeated. We hope they are, for the good of football, but I think it’s unlikely.
“I hope another Cristiano Ronaldo appears [for Portugal], but I think it’s unlikely and now up to us to enjoy him and enjoy what he can still give us, regardless of the fact they often say; ‘Ah, he’s not what he used to be’. All players as the years go by have to adapt.
“Cristiano, although different and always adapting, continues to do what he does best, which is score goals.”
Portugal face Bosnia tonight in their final match of the current international break, but the Selecao have already secured qualification to the Euros in Germany 2024, so the game is no longer of huge importance.
