Ange Postecoglou has identified Lille striker Jonathan David as his number one transfer target for the January window, with Spurs looking to strengthen in depth after an impressive start to the season.

Tottenham Transfer News

Tottenham are eyeing up a blockbuster signing this January, with Lille superstar Jonathan David the number one target for new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

David scored 25 goals in Ligue 1 last season which made him one of the hottest players on the transfer market in the summer, but nobody was able to complete a deal ahead of the season.

The Canadian superstar is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League and the transfer fee would not be an issue for Spurs, so a deal could already be in the works.

Tottenham are still yet to replace Harry Kane who left for Bayern Munich late in the summer transfer window, with Richaarlison again failing to impress as a replacement number nine.

Recently Heung-Min Son has been playing down the middle for Spurs and the new Tottenham captain was able to pick up the September player of the month in that position, which helped his side to the top of the league.

Postecoglou has made a dream start at his new club this season, with Tottenham leading the Premier League table after the first eight games this season. The new Spurs boss has also been named manager of the month in both his first two months in charge, after an unbeaten start to the campaign.

David has scored 62 goals in 144 appearances for Lille and with double figure goals in every season he has played so far, the Canadian could be the missing piece to Tottenham’s title charge.
