Manchester United face more injury troubles as Casemiro suffered an ankle injury while playing for Brazil in a World Cup qualifier against Venezuela.
The 31-year-old requested a substitution in the 79th minute, raising concerns about his fitness for future matches.
Casemiro’s injury comes after a challenging week for the ex-Real Madrid star, who was substituted at halftime during United’s 2-1 victory against Brentford due to poor performance.
The Brazil manager, Fernando Diniz, confirmed, “He asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.” The extent of Casemiro’s injury remains unclear, and it’s uncertain whether he’ll participate in Brazil’s match against Uruguay on October 18. If not, he’ll return to United and hope to recover in time for the clash with Sheffield United on October 21.

Manchester United have initiated an investigation into the high number of player injuries, with 16 players currently sidelined or unavailable despite having played only eight Premier League games. The club’s medical department is actively seeking patterns and ways to prevent injuries in the future.
While they aim to improve injury prevention, they acknowledge that impact injuries, like Casemiro’s, cannot always be anticipated. Long-term absentee players such as Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka further compound the team’s injury concerns.
However, there’s optimism that other injured stars like Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo, will return to action soon.
Following the international break, Manchester United will play Sheffield United before facing Copenhagen in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League on October 29.
