It’s fair to say that Belgium footballer Eden Hazard has had a mixed career, but during his playing days he’s amassed a staggering fortune reported to be £80m according to Celebrity Net Worth – but how did Hazard’s journey earn him so much?

The clear playing highlight for Hazard was his 7-year spell at Premier League side Chelsea between 2012-2019, where he made 245 league appearances and scored 85 goals, which equates to a decent 35% goals-to-games ratio.

During his time at the Blues, Eden Hazard also won the Premier League twice, the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and two Europa Leagues.

Prior to his time at the London club, Hazard made a name for himself at Lille between 2007-2012, playing 147 times for the French club and firing in 36 goals.

But it was on 4th June 2012 that Hazard was sold to Chelsea in a deal worth £32million, of which he’d have received a signing-on fee and it was during this period that the Eden Hazard net worth started to sky rocket, being on a reported £200k a-week at the Blues towards the end of his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard Career Earnings & Salary Were Super-Charged With Real Madrid Move

Having impressed at Chelsea for seven seasons, Eden Hazard was now firmly on the radar of other top European football sides – including Spanish giants Real Madrid.

It was in 2019 that the La Liga side lured Hazard away from Stamford Bridge for a reported €115m transfer free and personal terms that would see him now earn €461, 538 a-week and between €24-25 million euros a year.

He spent just over 4 years at Real Madrid and despite earning the most money in his life, his career on the pitch took a nosedive with a series of injuries.

During his time in Spain, he made just 44 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions and scored only 7 goals.

However, despite his torrid time in Spain, Hazard still had something to brag about with two La Liga titles, the Champions League and a Copa Del Rey added to his CV.

Eden Hazard Retired From Football On 10th October 2023

Hazard, who also notched up 126 international caps for Belgium (33 goals), called time on his career on Tuesday 10th October when he announced his retirement from football via an Instagram posting.

In 2019, Hazard had signed a five-year deal with Real Madrid until 2024. However, a mixture of a bad run of injuries and poor performances on the pitch saw both parties agree to end his contract a year earlier – in the summer of 2023.

Now a free agent, some sides showed an interest on signing Hazard but at the age of 32 he decided to hang up his boots on Tuesday 10th October and retire from playing with a reported net worth of £80m.

It remains to be seen what the next career move for Hazard might be, with a leap into football management or TV media work the obvious candidates for any ex-footballer.
