Liverpool vs Union Saint-Gilloise Team News & Injury Update
The Reds come into this one off the back of a controversial defeat to Tottenham at the weekend that saw both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota red carded, and so with both facing a spell on the sidelines domestically – the pair are expected to be in from the off against Union Saint-Gilloise.
Not only that, but Cody Gakpo faces several weeks on the treatment table after coming off with an injury against Spurs, joining Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic on Liverpool‘s injury list.
A switch in goalkeeping personnel is expected for USG’s visit with regular number one Allison being afforded a rest whilst Irish stopper Caoimhin Kelleher should come in for his second consecutive start in the Europa League.
As for the Belgian side, there is just one major injury concern as star forward Dennis Eckert Ayensa is a doubt for the trip to Anfield.
The Spanish striker has missed USG’s last four matches in all competitions due to a knock, and although he faces a late fitness test ahead of the clash against the Reds, it looks unlikely that he’ll be in from the start.
In his absence it is expected that Gustaf Nilsson will lead the line for the Belgian Pro League leaders, having started their group opener against Toulouse last month.
