Kauro Mitoma is set to commit his future to Brighton by signing a new five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2028.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all shown great interest in signing the Japanese international. The heavy fee attached to the wingers name will surely scare the clubs away from pursing Mitoma anytime soon.

Mitoma’s new five-year contract is worth in the region of £80,000-a-week and is expected to be finalised within the next 24 hours.

Mitoma’s first season in the Premier League saw him score 10 goals in 41 appearances, adding five assists in the process. This season he already has three goals and three assists to his name. It’s no wonder the big clubs were trying to pursue Mitoma.

Brighton have been working on a new deal for Mitoma since August. He made it clear the end of last season that Brighton was the place for him:

“The city has a good climate, the sea is close, so it’s a really good place to live in,” Mitoma said.

“The supporters cheer for us in a loud voice both home and away. I feel a real warmth, they are really exceptional supporters. The staff behind the scenes are good people too, I am very happy here.

“I have gained good experience trying to get used to the new environment and am looking forward to doing even better next season.”
