Premier League fans are being treated on Sunday afternoon as the ever-entertaining North London Derby returns to the screens. Ahead of the clash at the Emirates, ex-England forward Chris Sutton has delivered his Arsenal vs Tottenham prediction, and has backed the Gunners to narrowly defeat their arch-rivals.

The marquee Premier League clash in gameweek six is without a doubt that of Arsenal and Tottenham‘s meeting on Sunday afternoon, as the pair prepare for the 173rd North London Derby in the English top flight.

Mikel Arteta’s side secured all six points from the two fixtures in 2022/23, but it promises to be a completely different prospect this time around with both sides heading into this weekend’s clash boasting an unbeaten record in the league.

Whilst Sunday’s visitors enjoyed a week away from competitive football, the Gunners returned to Champions League action on Wednesday for the first time in six years, and boy did they return in style. Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard chipped in with a goal apiece, as they ran rampant at home with a comfortable 4-0 win over Dutch outfit PSV.

Rejuvenated under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs look like a brand new team this year though, and currently occupy second place in the Premier League table and have the same record as Arsenal with four victories and a draw.

In what is typically a spicy affair with plenty of passion and bruising tackles, Sunday afternoon’s result could set the tone for the remainder of the season for both sides.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Prediction

Speaking in his weekly BBC Sport column, former Celtic and England front-man Chris Sutton delivered his prediction for Arsenal vs Tottenham on Sunday, backing the hosts to a narrow victory with plenty of goals scored.

“There are going to be goals in this one, and lots of them!” he said.

“This isn’t going to be a drab game because Spurs boss Postecoglou will go blow for blow, whatever Arsenal throw at them – he’s not going to go there and park the bus like Manchester United did earlier this season.

“I am expecting Spurs to cause Arsenal problems, but the same will apply to the Gunners when they go at the Spurs backline.

“This is the toughest game Postecoglou has faced since he took charge in the summer, and Liverpool are next up, so this is a very testing spell for him.

“It would be remarkable if he could continue the start he has made by going to the Emirates and getting a win on Arsenal’s home patch – he will have a real go, but it might prove to be a step too far.”

Chris Sutton’s Prediction: Arsenal 3-2 Tottenham @ 20/1
