New Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min will have his contract extended by the club. Son’s contract will keep him in London until 2026.

Spurs learnt the hard way about letting contracts run close to their end this summer. Harry Kane’s contract was due to end next summer, forcing Spurs to sell Kane to Bayern, so they wouldn’t lose him for free.

Now they’re making moves to make sure they don’t lose another star by preparing to use their contract extension option on Son’s contract.

Son’s current deal ends in the summer of 2025. Although that’s still some time away, Spurs are keen to make sure they have their new captain locked into a longer deal.

Their extension option will extend Son’s contract until the summer 0f 2026.

Son’s Contract Extension, Good News For Spurs?

Son’s contract news will come as a positive sign to fans and players alike. With Kane leaving, Son has become the main man for Spurs.

Alongside new signing James Maddison, Son has helped Spurs start this season well. They’re currently second, two points behind league leaders Man City. Crucially, they’re still unbeaten in the league, after a late turnaround against Sheffield United last weekend.

If Spurs are to finally end their long run without a trophy, building a team around Son will be crucial.
