Burnley vs Manchester United Preview

The Red Devils returned to European action midweek and faced a tough task of travelling to Munich to take on Bayern in their Champions League opener, to which they fell to a disappointing 4-3 defeat at the Allianz Arena.

Following on from midweek defeat, Erik ten Hag’s side face another away trip on Saturday evening, when they travel to Lancashire to take on newly-promoted Burnley at Turf Moor.

Vincent Kompany’s side are still on the hunt for their first Premier League victory of the season having lost three and drawn one so far, whilst Manchester United will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering three successive defeats in all competitions.

Last time out for the Clarets, they picked up their first point of the season, but it easily could’ve been three. They travelled to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest and initially took the lead through Zeki Amdouni, but for Callum Hudson-Odoi to cancel out their goal with a stunner on his first start for the Reds.

South African striker Lyle Foster was red carded late-on against Forest due to violent conduct, and faces a three-match suspension, making him unavailable for United’s visit on Saturday.

As previously mentioned, Foster will serve the first match of his three-match suspension for this one, and is joined on the sidelines by Hjalmar Ekdal, Michael Obafemi and Darko Churlinov who all miss out through injury.

There is also concern over a potential knee injury for Brazilian wide-man Vitinho, and he will be assessed further in the lead up to the match.

Victor da Silva is a doubt for the clash due to injury, but could return to the squad and play a part from the bench.

Burnley Predicted Line-Up

Trafford; Roberts, Al-Dakhil, O’Shea, Taylor; Cullen, Brownhill; Zaroury, Ramsey, Koleosho; Amdouni

Manchester United Team News

The midweek Champions League outing came too early for them, but Raphael Varane and Mason Mount both returned to Red Devils training at the start of the week, and so could play a part against Burnley on Saturday.

As for the rest of the squad, it doesn’t bode well for Ten Hag. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Tom Heaton and Harry Maguire are all out injured, with Jadon Sancho and Antony both expected to miss out due to disciplinary issues.

Sofyan Amrabat could be in line to make his debut against the Clarets, however he still remains doubtful due to a lower back injury so he may be eased in slowly.

Manchester United Predicted Line-Up

Onana; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Reguilon; Casemiro, McTominay; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
