Pep Guardiola’s half-time words confirmed as Guardiola helps inspire a comeback in the second half.
Man City went into the break 1-0 down after James Ward-Prowse scored his second goal for West Ham after signing from Southampton.
During the half-time break, Guardiola spoke to his players about their start to the game and encouraged them to carry on in the same vein.
New signing Matheus Nunes shared what his manager said to the team:
“He said first to ‘keep going’ because we were playing well and creating chances.
“We didn’t score but he said, ‘we were playing good and carry on’ and that’s what we did.”
His words worked instantly as another new signing, Jeremy Doku, equalised after just a minute.

Bernardo Silva put Man City into the lead to complete the turnaround. His goal in the 76th minute saw the pressure switch back onto the hosts.
City killed the game with four minutes of normal time remaining. Erling Haaland scored the games fourth and final goal to rubber stamp the comeback.
Guardiola, back from his absence after surgery, will be happy that his side fought back make it five wins out of five.
