FIFA have revealed the list of candidates for their ‘The Best’ awards, which includes the men’s player of the year, coach of the year, and the goalkeeper of the year.
Global football organisation FIFA have revealed the nominees for the 2023 ‘The Best’ awards, where the best players and coaches across several categories are awarded for their triumphs throughout the year.
‘The Best’ men’s player nominees include five Manchester City players after achieving an iconic treble, with Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice also nominated for his displays in leading West Ham to Europa Conference League glory.
World Cup winner Lionel Messi has also been nominated, alongside ex-Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe, as well as Napoli duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
It won’t surprise anyone to see that Pep Guardiola has been nominated for the best manager award, with Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou also nominated for his trophy-laden campaign with Scottish champions Celtic.
The Premier League boasts another two representatives in the nominees for the best goalkeeper award with Manchester City’s Ederson, and Manchester United’s Andre Onana, with the latter earning his nomination for his role in helping Inter Milan to the Champions League final, as well as winning the Coppa Italia.
