Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe looks to finally be bringing his torrid time at the Emirates to an end – permanently, as Fabrizio Romano reports he is prioritising a move to Trabzonspor after being unconvinced by approaches from Saudi Arabia.
Nicolas Pepe’s time at Arsenal is reportedly close to an end – permanently, with the Ivorian winger now looking to secure a transfer to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
The 28-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to the big-spending Saudi Pro League, however Fabrizio Romano claims that the forward is unconvinced by the approaches for him.
Romano also reports that negotiations with Trabzonspor will now follow in order to reach an agreement, with Pepe completely frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s project going forward.
“Nicolas Pépé, not convinced by Saudi approaches — deal not happening, his priority is now to join Trabzonspor,” Romano tweeted on Thursday.
“Negotiations to follow in order to reach an agreement, as Foot Mercato called; he’s completely out of Arsenal project. Arsenal prepared to give the green light.”

Pepe originally made his move to the Emirates in 2019 for a club-record fee of £72million, leaving Arsenal fans full of hope that they’d unearthed the Premier League‘s next major star.
His first two seasons showed plenty of promise, and flashes of brilliance – scoring five league goals in 2019/20, before doubling his tally to 10 goals in 2020/21.
He also played the entire 90 minutes in the 2020 FA Cup final, and provided the assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s winning goal as the Gunners lifted the iconic trophy for a record 14th time.
The 2021/22 season was where his career in north London really came to an end though, as he scored just once in the league after turning out on 20 occasions.
Subsequently, he was sent out on loan to Ligue 1 side Nice last term, where he made 28 appearances, and scored eight goals across all competitions.
