A journalist got the better of Thomas Tuchel when asked about the vacant no.6 position after Bayern Munich failed to secure several of their midfield targets this summer.
It was a frustrating last few days in the transfer window for Bayern. They couldn’t push a deal through for Manchester United’s Scott Mctominay, whilst a deal collapsed for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha after the Cottagers failed to identify a suitable replacement.
Thomas Tuchel clearly cuts a frustrated figure at Bayern at the moment. It is not the first time this has happened as he struggled to build a relationship with Todd Boehly, which subsequently ended with him losing his job.
In response to the journalist’s question, he said:”You pour oil on the fire where there is no fire. I see no problem,” according to The Mirror.
“We have three sixes and we have a long season ahead of us.”
The journalist pushed Tuchel again, bringing up previous comments made by the Bayern boss about having to use midfielders from the second team in the event that no reinforcements arrive.
Aleks Pavlovic is one of those youngsters that seems to have made an impression on Tuchel after appearing in Bayern’s squad on several occasions so far this season.
The 49-year-old commented further, saying: “You’re discussing all the time. I have no new information. I’ve said something about that several times.”
So, it looks like Tuchel will have to make do with he has, at least until January when the transfer window opens again. Going into the international break, Bayern are currently sat in 2nd behind Bayern Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. They also host Man Utd in the first Champions League game when the international break is over.
