The points were shared between Everton and Sheffield United in the early kickoff on Saturday, with the Blades now 4/9 to drop straight back to the Championship this season.

Abdoulaye Doucoure scored Everton’s last goal in the 2022/23 season and he was on hand to finally score their first of this year’s campaign, with a tap in from close range giving the Toffees an early lead after 15 minutes.

Sheffield United hit back with ten minutes left in the half, as Cameron Archer scored his first goal for the Blades to level the scores, after the 21-year-old completed an £18m move from Aston Villa in the summer.

Archer also played a huge role in the Blades’ second of the match, with his low strike bouncing off the post and hitting Jordan Pickford in the back for an own goal just before half time.

Everton wouldn’t lay down in the second half however, and a first goal in Blue for Arnaut Danjuma secured a point for the Toffees who rose off the bottom of the Premier League table thanks to the 2-2 draw.

Sheffield United Relegation Odds

  • Luton Town @ 1/4
  • Sheffield United @ 4/9
  • Everton @ 6/4
  • Bournemouth @ 5/2
  • Wolves @ 3/1
  • Burnley @ 3/1
  • Nottingham Forest @ 10/3

A draw for Sheffield United means that the Blades are now out of the relegation zone as things stand, with their first point of the season lifting them out of the drop.

New summer signings Cameron Archer and Gustavo Hamer are sure to give the Blades a much needed lift in the Premier League this season, but there are still concerns the side didn’t spend enough in summer to survive a tough season.

Sheffield United survived just two seasons in the top flight last time they were in the Premier League, so they will be looking to do better than the 2020/21 season when they finished rock bottom of the league.
