This summer has seen a lot of big talent move to the Middle East for the big cheques. The likes of Neymar, Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema are the standouts but here are three transfers to Saudi Arabia that still might happen before the transfer window ends:
3. Nicolas Pepe
There’s no doubt that Pepe has been one of the biggest flops of the past 20 years. With a price of £72 million, the winger never really impressed in an Arsenal shirt. These days, Pepe doesn’t even appear on the bench. With one year left on his contract, it’s been reported that an unnamed Saudi club is interested in Ivory Coast international. Whether they pay the small fee now or wait until he becomes a free agent in the summer, Pepe will no doubt be leaving the North London club.
2. Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba completed a move back to Juventus last season after a poor six years for Manchester United. It was an injury-ridden season for Pogba as he only made 10 appearances for the Italian side. He is now linked with a move to Al Ahli. The 30-year-old has reportedly been offered around £85m in a 3-year contract. It’s now down to the 30-year-old if he wants to join.
1. Mohamed Salah
This story has been the talk of most newspapers but whether it materialises is now down to the fee. It’s understood that Al-Ittihad are offering Liverpool £89m in a deal that could go up to £129m if the correct objectives are met. Salah is 31 now so it wouldn’t be totally crazy if Liverpool wanted to cash in on him but to do it so close to when the transfer window ends is questionable. A deal could be agreed in January when the transfer window reopens but if Al-Ittihad are desperate for the Egyptian to move now, they’ve not got long to agree terms with Liverpool.
