Nottingham Forest are reportedly in advanced talks with Chelsea over the permanent signing of English winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, amid the rumoured departure of Brennan Johnson.

Steve Cooper looks set to reunite with Callum Hudson-Odoi, as Nottingham Forest are reportedly in advanced talks with Chelsea over a permanent move for the winger.

The Welsh manager previously worked with Hudson-Odoi at England Under-17 level, where they won the Under-17 World Cup together back in 2017.

Forest have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old throughout the course of the transfer window, but Fabrizio Romano now reports that negotiations are moving to the final stages.

“Understand Nottingham Forest are now closing in on Callum Hudson-Odoi deal. Negotiations moving to final stages with Chelsea,” he tweeted on Wednesday morning.

“Talks underway, details to be clarified today but Hudson-Odoi could join Forest soon.”

Fulham had previously held an interest in Hudson-Odoi, but withdrew their interest after failing to agree a fee with Chelsea for his services.

This has given Forest a clear run at signing the former Bayer Leverkusen loanee, as they look to be preparing for life without Brennan Johnson – who has been tipped to depart before the window closes.

A product of the academy at the City Ground, Johnson has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, with talks expected to intensify in the coming hours.

Hudson-Odoi is set to become the sixth major arrival at the Midlands club this summer, following the likes of Anthony Elanga, Matt Turner, Ola Aina, Andrey Santos and Gonzalo Montiel through the door.
