Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos ahead of Dean Henderson’s expected departure for either Crystal Palace or Nottingham Forest.

Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos is being eyed as a potential replacement for the outgoing Dean Henderson at Manchester United, according to reports.

Henderson has been linked with a return to Nottingham Forest throughout the window, with Crystal Palace now being tipped as a potential destination too.

This leaves a requirement for Erik ten Hag to decide on a new potential number two, and according to Fabrizio Romano – the Dutchman wants Vlachodimos to take up the role.

“Manchester United are informed on the conditions of Odysseas Vlachodimos deal, as revealed yesterday.” Romano tweeted on Monday afternoon.

“He wasn’t in Benfica squad last week as he’s expected to leave the club by the end of the window.

“Deal with Man Utd could only advance if Dean Henderson leaves the club.”

Whilst Henderson is largely expected to depart in order to secure more gametime, his next club is unknown.

Forest were the clear frontrunners for his signature earlier in the window, as the Englishman spent last season on loan at the City Ground before being ruled out through injury for the second half of the campaign.

However this no longer looks to be the case – with Romano now reporting that the Eagles have overtaken the Reds in the race to secure the 26-year-old’s services.

“Crystal Palace are currently ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Dean Henderson,” Romano tweeted.

“Negotiations continue on both club and player side. Henderson, still expected to leave Man Utd.”
